Eddie Izzard the actor, comedian, transvestite and extreme marathon runner embarks on an amazing journey using his DNA. With the help of geneticists and after a simple saliva swab, Eddie will unlock his family history in a two part series. Episode 1 starts this Wednesday on BBC1 looking at his maternal line.

I would so love to do this myself. My known family ancestry is quite mixed (Chinese, Dutch, Welsh and supposedly a drop of French). I would love to find out where my DNA map takes me (I fancy myself a descendent of Genghis Khan or a Viking)
