Walk it out

Too tired for a run? Go for a walk instead. A study for the American Heart Association shows that there is little difference between running and walking in terms of preventing hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol. Because the 2 activities use exactly the same muscles, as long as you use the same energy walking as you would on a run you will gain equal health benefits.  What this really translates to is walking twice the distance of your standard route.

Reverse psychology : It's all well and good in a nice climate. Personally, I don't fancy a 7 mile walk on a dark evening in freezing, windy, rainy, snowy February, when I can be done and dusted in 30 minutes with a run and enjoy a steaming hot mug of tea afterwards.
