An afternoon in Knaresborough

I can't believe that in the 15 years that I've lived in Yorkshire I had never thought to visit the historic and very beautiful town of Knaresborough. For goodness sake.. it is only 30 minutes from my front door!

But, it's better late than never.
The picturesque rail viaduct over the River Nidd. Photo taken from the castle gardens
Knaresborough castle ruins

A visit to England's oldest chemist shop (now a chocolate shop)
A quick browse around the town centre before heading for the river side walk
Pratchettesque, right?

No trip is complete without a bit of cake. We stopped at the Ugly Duckling...
for homemade lemon scone cream teas.
